Obituary

Otis James "Jim" Pendleton, of Iberia, was born on December 16, 1931, in Pulaski County, a son of Leslie and Hilda (Bax) Pendleton, and departed this life at 10:56 p.m., on Friday, August 14, 2015, in the Lake Regional Medical Center, Osage Beach. Mr. Pendleton had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 29 days.

After being inducted into the United States Army, Jim served during the Korean Conflict and at the time of his discharge on December 13, 1953, he had attained the rank of Corporal. During his working life in St. Louis, Jim had been a carpenter for thirty-five years with twenty-nine and one-half years of his career being employed by the Hill-Behan Lumber Company, St. Louis, and the rest of his career by other businesses. He fully retired in 1994 and moved to Iberia full time for his retirement years in 1999. Activities Jim especially enjoyed included being good to other people, taking care of his family, fishing, and interacting not only with his children, but also with his brothers, sisters, and his nephews and nieces, who dearly loved him.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jim include: One son, James Michael Pendleton, Columbiana, Ohio; one daughter, Sandra Anderson, and her partner, Ed Eaken, Columbiana, Ohio; two grandchildren, David Joseph Murphy, Columbiana, Ohio, and Andrew James Anderson, Poland, Ohio; one sister, Bonnie Lawson, St. Ann, Missouri; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie; his mother, Hilda; one brother, Charles Leslie Pendleton; and three sisters, Ethelene Amberger, Velma Jean Laubert, and Linda Morgan.


Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Pendleton at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Hamm officiating. Interment with full military honors was in the Red Cemetery in Maries County under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mr. Pendleton will be relatives and friends.
