Obituary

Quinton Dean Leymaster, of Dixon, was born on December 27, 1942, at Prairie Township, Minnesota, a son of Dean Lamont and Bethel (Rogers) Leymaster, and departed this life at 1:12 a.m., on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, in Lake Regional Hospital at Osage Beach.  He had attained the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

Quinton was united in marriage in July of 1983, at Dixon, to the former Miss Melba Sue Elkins, who preceded her husband in death on October 18, 2014.

In 1961, at Stockton, California, Quinton entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until 1982, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, at the rank of CW3.  Serving during the Vietnam Conflict, his Primary Specialty was in Food Service and was a Kitchen Supervisor for six years of his twenty-one years of service.  Quinton was awarded and entitled to wear the NDSM, the GCMDL (3D AWD), the BSM, the RVNCM, the ARCOM (2OLC), the AAM, the RVNGC W/P (UNIT), the NPDR (3), the FGN AWDS, VSM W/4 BZ SVC STARS, the ASR, the MSM, and the OSR (3).  A man of excellent character, Quinton's military career and "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

Following his retirement from the military, he was employed by EDP Enterprises at Fort Leonard Wood, where he worked for thirty-five years retiring in 2018 in the position of Project Manager.  Quinton was a member of the Plato Lodge No. 469 A.F. & A.M in Plato, MO, and the Joplin Shriners Club in Joplin, MO.

He is survived by his son, Quinton D. Leymaster, Jr., of Coal Valley, Illinois; one brother, Ronnie Leymaster (Donna), of Dixon; two grandchildren, Nicholas Leymaster (Natalia) of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Ashley Leymaster-Holmes (Tim) of Dover, New Hampshire; three great-grandchildren, Scarlett Holmes, Madelynn Holmes, and Leo Leymaster.

In addition to his wife, Quinton was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Leon Leymaster.

The way Quinton lived and interacted with others was the best tribute anyone could have for their life, and he will be memorialized near his son in Coal Valley, Illinois.  Fond and precious memories will always be remembered in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
