Obituary

Reba Pearl Johnston, of Dixon, was born on October 2, 1927, near Dixon, in Pulaski County, a daughter of Oral Edgar and Emma (Alexander) Baker, and departed this life at 8:40 p.m., on Thursday evening, August 18, 2016, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dixon. Mrs. Johnston had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 16 days.

Mrs. Johnston was united in marriage on March 5, 1946, at Rolla, to Raymond Dexter Johnston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on April 3, 1992; two great-grandsons, Michael Anthony Bonofiglio on August 24, 2011; and Dominic Gabriel Bonofiglio on March 6, 2016; her father, Oral; her mother, Emma; one brother, Willis Dean Baker; and one sister, Lois Ray.

Mrs. Johnston had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and followed Him in baptism in May of 1950 and at the time of her passing was a member of the Gasconade Baptist Church, Dixon. She loved gardening, canning, making jellies, and was a devoted housewife and homemaker, always diligent in providing for the needs of her family. Mrs. Johnston was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful quilts, which she was still making just a few weeks prior to her passing.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Johnston include: One son, Charles Johnston and wife, Marjorie, Dixon; two daughters, Barbara Bassett, and husband, Charles, Dixon; Dola Bonofiglio and husband, Ralph, O'Fallon; six grandchildren, Leasa Day, and husband, David; Carol Helble and husband, Raymond; Amy Green and husband, Drew; Mike Bonofiglio and wife, Jennifer; Terri Gjerde and husband, Joe; and Dale Johnston and wife, Teresa; thirteen great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Mrs. Johnston will indeed be sadly missed by her dear family and all who knew and loved her.
