Richard Alan "Doc" Becker, of Freeburg, was born on July 15, 1952, at Jefferson City, a son of Joseph Valentine and Edna Louise (Lovell) Becker, and departed this life at 2:43 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at his residence. Doc had fought a lengthy battle with cancer and had attained the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 27 days.
Doc was united in marriage on November 4, 1989, at Freeburg, to Brenda Lee Gradel, and to this union, two daughters were born.
Doc was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and the Missouri Lumbermans Association, Kansas City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being at the farm driving his tractor and caring for his livestock, his classic cars, and being with his family and grandchildren.
Doc had been a lifelong employee, and later an owner, operator and manager, of Becker Millwork and Hardware, Freeburg, which celebrated seventy years in business in 2018.
Those left to mourn the passing of Doc include: His wife, Brenda, of the home in Freeburg; his daughters, Paige Lafferty and husband, Nick, and Chelsea Becker, all of Freeburg; his grandchildren, Paisley, Brayden, and Riley Lafferty; his siblings, Kristie Miller of Jefferson City, Rebecca Rackers of Taos, Delbert Becker and friend, Ellen, of Freeburg, Janet Bax and husband, Rick, of Linn, Ronda Luebbert and husband, Junior, of Springfield, and Tina Becker of Russellville; brother-in-law, Bill Combs of Jefferson City; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Denise Gradel, of Freeburg; special family friend, Jill Clayton, of Argyle; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe; his mother, Edna; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Esther Becker; a sister, Joyce Combs; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pistol and Leona Gradel.
Visitation for Mr. Richard "Doc" Becker will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m., on Friday, June 14, 2019, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 15, 2019, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, Missouri 65035.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Richard "Doc" Becker will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 15, 2019, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, Missouri 65035, with the Rev. William D. Debo as the Celebrant.
Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Pallbearers will be Charlie Wieberg, Rich Holterman, Rich Knaebel, Todd Becker, Mike Bexten, and Rick Bax, and honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Haller, Allen Gradel, Stanley Boehm, Bryan Rowden, Mark Schoene, Michael Reinkemeyer, Mark Sankey, Perry Lunceford, Alan Dickneite, Dave Lauberth, Danny Redel, Dustin Elrod, Darren Davis, and Rockie Becker.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Richard "Doc" Becker are suggested by his family to the Holy Family School or the Osage/Maries County Relay for Life with envelopes available at the Holy Family Catholic Church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
