Robert Walter "Bob" Moser, of Hermann, formerly of Vienna, was born on August 27, 1927, at St. Louis, a son of Otto John and Erna Dorothy (Begemann) Moser, and departed this life at 11:43 p.m., on Thursday, January 19, 2017, in the Victorian Gardens, Eureka, Missouri. He had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 23 days.
Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life, Evelyn Lorraine Tackett, on May 12, 1962, in the First Baptist Church, Vienna, and to this union, two children were born. He was baptized early in life and was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was a 1945 graduate of Cleveland High School, St. Louis, prior to joining the U.S. Navy the same year with his college work following his naval service. Bob began his college work in 1952 at Washington University, St. Louis, and completed his studies at the University of Missouri, Columbia, prior to beginning his teaching career. His first teaching position was with the Dixon R-1 School System, as a science and biology teacher, where he taught for a number of years. After leaving Dixon, Bob taught at Affton and finished his career at Herman, prior to his retirement.
On July 30, 1945, at St. Louis, Bob entered into active federal service in the Navy of the United States and served until February 16, 1947, when he was honorably discharged at Oakland, California, at the rank of Hospital Apprentice First Class V-6. During his naval career, Bob's service included serving on various vessels and at numerous duty stations, and was entitled to wear the United States Victory Ribbon as well as other awards and ribbons. A man of excellent character, his "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to our country.
Those left to mourn the passing of Bob include: His devoted wife of over 54 years, Evelyn, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Debbie Moser, Cedar Hill; one daughter, Lora Lea Moser, Herman; one granddaughter, Victoria Lea Moser, Herman; one sister, Erna Mueller, Los Angeles, California; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otto; his mother, Erna; two brothers, Ernest Moser and Otto Moser, Jr.; and one sister, Florence Lischer.
Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Backues, Shane Backues, Tim Backues, and Clay Vogt.
