Rocky Allen Pointer, of Belle, was born June 27, 1954, at Rolla, a son of Clifford Louis and Mildred Alwina (Lehnhoff) Pointer, and departed this life at 10:15 p.m., on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at his residence. He had attained the age of 63 years, 6 months, and 14 days.
Rocky was united in marriage on May 30, 1977, at Freeburg, to Janet Anne James, and to this union, one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Doerr, and Joann Pointer at age four; father-in-law, Gerald James; and nephew, Seth Backues.
During his working life, he had been employed with the Osage County Road and Bridge Department, Linn, retiring after twenty-eight years in 2014. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, going to the river, boating, fishing, gigging, gardening and canning the fruits of his labor. During the last few years of his life he thoroughly enjoyed his role as "papa" to Zoey and Everett and loved taking his granddaughter, Zoey, fishing.
Those left to mourn the passing of Rocky include: His wife, Janet Pointer, of the home near Belle; his daughter, Paige Welschmeyer and husband, Andrew, of Belle; his grandchildren, Zoey and Everett Welschmeyer; his brother, Junior Pointer and wife, Jo Ann, of Marshfield; his sisters, Goldeen Blankenship and husband, Edgar, of Bland; and Glory Garner of the state of Hawaii; his mother-in-law, Wilma James, of Freeburg; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joy James of Freeburg; Tim James of Vienna; Jeri Ragan and husband, Don, of Florissant; Todd James and wife, Kim, of Rock City, Illinois; and Terry James and wife, Lori, of Jefferson City; nephews; nieces; and host of friends.
