Ronald Allen "Ronnie" Rollins, Sr. of Dixon, was born on May 31, 1939, near Dixon, in Maries County, a son of Thedora Allen and Nellie Agnes (Veasman) Rollins, and departed this life on Sunday, July 12, 2020, in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. Ronnie had attained the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 11 days.
He was united in marriage on June 30, 1978, at St. Louis, to Dixie Carmolita Grant.
Ronnie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior and had followed his Lord in baptism on September 9, 1990 at First Baptist Church, Dixon, and at the time of his passing was a member of Santee Community Church, Dixon. He was a 1957 graduate of Dixon High School, and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 541, Kansas City, Missouri. Ronnie had worked in highway construction hauling heavy equipment and was an over the road truck driver, as well raising beef cattle in Maries County. He retired from Clarkson Construction in Kansas City in 2001. Ronnie loved old vehicles and was very knowledgeable about all types of cars and trucks throughout the decades. He was also a talented mechanic.
Those left to mourn the passing of Ronnie include: His devoted and loving wife, Dixie, of the home near Dixon; three sons, Ronnie Rollins, Jr. and wife, Connie, Donnie Rollins and wife, Tammy, and Derek Rollins, all of Dixon; two brothers, Lonnie Rollins and wife, Virginia, and Jerry Rollins and wife, Carolyn, all of Dixon; four grandchildren, Ronnie Nathen Rollins, Robert Rollins, Ashley Vines, and Josh Rollins; several great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen, on April 18, 1993; and his mother, Nellie, on July 6, 2014.
Visitation for Ronnie will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Thursday July 16th, 2020, followed by his funeral service at 1:00 p.m., all in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home at 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with Rev. Shannon Perry, Santee Community Church, Dixon, officiating.
Interment will be in the Dixon Cemetery, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon. Pallbearers for Ronnie will be Derek Rollins, Donnie Rollins, Ronnie Rollins Jr., Jerry Rollins, Gilbert Rollins and Josh Rollins. Honorary pallbearers will be the late Clarence Krull, the late Johnny Aaron, the late Dale Prewett, Lonnie Rollins, Myrl Rollins, Don Veasman and Franz Bell.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Rollins are suggested by his family to the Dixon Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home or in care of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
