Obituary

Pastor Rose Marie Hardy, of Vienna, was born on June 19, 1935, at Marvel, Arkansas, a daughter of Silas Collins and Macie Luberta (Starnes) Davis, and departed this life at 6:10 a.m., on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her residence. Pastor Rose Marie had attained the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 24 days.

Pastor Rose was preceded in death by her father, Silas, in August of 1970; her mother, Macie, on August 8, 2001; her step-father, Elder William McGee; three daughters, Cheryl Weakly, Brittney Hardy, and Shirley Buckley; one grandson, Darren Anthony Weakly; four brothers, Booker T. Davis, Maceo Davis, Willie McGee, and Rev. Lester McGee; and two sisters, Verda Mae Davis and Alma Harmon.

Pastor Rose Marie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior at the age of twelve and had followed her Lord in baptism. During her early life, she had been the co-pastor of the Holy Deliverance Community Church I in East St. Louis, Illinois, for twenty years. After moving to Vienna in 1988, she had pastored the Holy Deliverance Community Church II and the Lambeth Assembly of God Church, both at Vienna. She was a foster care provider for twenty-five children and had adopted nine of those children. Prior to moving to Vienna, she had also been employed at Sears in the electronics department, was a licensed beautician, and had been a florist with both Foster's Floral in St. Louis, and Daisy Floral in East St. Louis, Illinois. Pastor Rose Marie enjoyed making floral arrangements, fishing, and was a writer, a great speaker, and a person in a constant state of prayer, as well as being a devoted homemaker, who was always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Pastor Rose Marie include: Her children, Christopher Smith, Jr. and his wife, Yvonne, Vienna; Angela Denzmore, Las Vegas, Nevada; Virgil Smith, Vienna; Diana Hardy, Jefferson City; Nicole Hardy, Phoenix, Arizona; Rahman Hardy, Rolla; Myra Hardy, Jefferson City; Maurice Hardy, St. Louis; Michelle Hardy, St. Louis; Whitney Hardy and Whitley Hardy, both of Joplin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jannice and James Riddick and Carolyn and Johnnie Lovett, all of Antelope, California; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Davis, Citrus Heights, California; four children she helped raise, Sheila Buckley, Charlotte Buckley, Michael Buckley, and Sharon Buckley; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were be held for Pastor Rose Marie at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 17, 2015, in the First Baptist Church, Vienna, with Pastor Nathaniel Johnson, Covenant Church, Madison, Illinois, officiating.

Interment was in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Pastor Rose Marie were be Irid Weakly, Jr. Timothy Weakly, Derek Weakly, Darrell Weakly, Rahman Hardy, Maurice Hardy, and Clyde Smith.

Memorials per the wishes of the family are suggested with envelopes available at the First Baptist Church in Vienna, or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
