Obituary

Ryan Jay Lekey, of rural Vienna, was born on September 20, 1988, at Columbia, the son of Scott Jay Lekey and Judy Rowden, and departed this life at 11:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 6, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Ryan had attained the age of 24 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

Ryan had accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior and had followed his Lord in baptism in 1996 while attending the First Baptist Church in Vienna. He had been a Cub Scout and was a 2007 graduate of the Maries R-1 High School, Vienna. Activities Ryan especially enjoyed were deer hunting, fishing, playing baseball, and watching Cardinals Baseball.

Ryan was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 36, Fulton, and had been employed in the sheet metal profession during his working life.

Those left to mourn the passing of Ryan include: His Fiancee, Larissa Steward, rural Vienna; his son of four months, Bentley Jay Lekey; his father and mother, Scott and Amy Lekey, rural Vienna; his birth mother, Judy Rowden, Holts Summit; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Susan Lekey, rural Vienna; his maternal grandparents, Randy and Anita Rowden, rural Dixon; his maternal great-grandmother, Viola Rowden, Iberia; three brothers, Tyler Jay Lekey,
rural Vienna, Andrew Shane Umfleet, Iberia, and Chanley Plemmons, Kaiser; nephews; nieces; uncles; aunts; cousins; and other relatives and friends.

Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother, Helen "Grandma Honey" Fitzpatrick; and by his maternal great-grandfather, Lloyd Rowden.

The funeral service for Ryan was conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with Pastor Leo Daugherty officiating.

Interment was in the Dick Lawson Cemetery under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Ryan were Colby Evans, Doug Wade, Dusty Redel, Levi Thomas, Dustin Evans, and Grant Gaither.

Memorials are suggested by Ryan's family to the Dick Lawson Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
