Obituary

Samuel Lowell Johnson, of Dixon, was born on March 14, 1934, at Rolla, a son of Samuel Calvin and Edna Pearl (Davidson) Johnson, and departed this life on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at his residence near Dixon. He had attained the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 23 days.

For most of his working life, Sam had been employed as an over the road truck driver for Sunoco and various trucking companies prior to his retirement. However, he was an avid worker and continued driving dump trucks and farming. Sam was never a person known for slowing down and always enjoyed working on whatever project he had going on, which were many. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior early in life and had followed his Lord in baptism.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Johnson include: His children, Melinda Daniel (Calvin) of Lone Jack; Samuel Lowell Johnson, Jr. of Wentzville; Marsha Hawkins (Steve) of Lee's Summit; Karen Wolter of Olathe, Kansas; Dawn Harrison (Rex) of Richland; and Mike Johnson (Angie) of Dixon; his siblings, Minnie Branson (Bill) of Sedgwick, Maine; and Charles Johnson (Sue) of Dixon; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel, on February 26, 1971; his mother, Pearl, on June 30, 1999; and one brother, Donald Eugene Johnson, on December 9, 1999.

Visitation for Mr. Samuel Lowell Johnson will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, with his funeral service following at 1:00 p.m., in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with the Rev. Arthur Gormley, Jr., New Salem Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating.

Interment will be in the Wheeler Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Johnson will be Zachary Wolter, Tylor Bales, Rex Harrison, Kyle Harrison, Danny Crossland, and Daren Eads.
