Sandra Kay Shanks, 56, of Meta, was born on June 20, 1964, at Waynesville, a daughter of James Cleo and Pearl Louise (Vaughan) Humphrey, and departed this life Tuesday, March 16, 2021, in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia.
She was united in marriage October 23, 1982, at Dixon, to Dwayne Allen Shanks, and to this union, three children were born.
Sandy had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and had followed her Lord in baptism while attending the Bethel Church of Christ near Vienna. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, caring for the elderly, and especially loving on her grandchildren and all children in general.
Following her graduation from high school, Sandy studied and received training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant, and during her working life, she was employed by several nursing homes in the area as a care provider to the elderly. Sandy truly loved caring for others, both the elderly and children, as well as being a devoted wife, housewife, and homemaker to her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Sandy include: Her husband, Dwayne, of the home in rural Meta; her three children, Christopher "Chris" Shanks (Tiffany), Argyle; Laura Miller (Kyle), Dixon; and Jamie Lepper (Rick), Eldon; her grandchildren, Elaina Shanks, Rebecca Shanks, Gracie Shanks, Kaleigh Miller, Karson Miller, Kollin Miller, twins, Madelynn Lepper and Evelynn Lepper, and soon to be another little Miller April 3, 2021, and little Leeam Lepper anticipated to arrive May 30, 2021; her parents, Jim and Pearl Humphrey, Dixon; siblings, Debbie Alvarez (Larry), Waynesville; Kathy Hughes (Donnie), Dixon; and Arlis Humphrey (Beth), Dixon; nephews; nieces; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Sandra K. Shanks will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2021, and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with her funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel.
Interment will be in Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Pallbearers for Mrs. Shanks will be Brandon Shanks, Ethan Shanks, Dustin Armistead, Tony Vaughan, Joseph Loughridge, and Arlis Humphrey, and honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Miller, Rick Lepper, and her grandchildren.
