Obituary

Sandra Elaine Sweat, of Dixon, was born at home on the family farm on February 14, 1941, in Gentry County, Missouri, a daughter of Cleo and Muriel May Patricia (Mattox) Davis, and departed this life at 6:40 p.m., on Thursday evening, May 26, 2016, in the Lake Regional Health Systems hospital, Osage Beach. Sandra had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 12 days.

Sandra was united in marriage on May 1, 1999, in Idyllwild, California, to Forrest Wayne Sweat. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Raymond Trimm; previous husbands, Joe Bunch and Roger Rapp; three brothers, Jack Davis, Roger Davis, and James Trimm; and two sisters, Jean Rinehart VanHoutan and Carol Martin.

She was a member of the Lutheran Faith; the American Nurses Association and the Emergency Nurses Association. Sandra had been a med tech, later graduating from Missouri Western State University to become a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurse for 40-plus years, the last 20 being at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, prior to her retirement in 2002.

Those left to mourn the passing of Sandra include: Her husband, Forrest Sweat of the home near Dixon; one daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Ed Hershewe, Joplin; five grandchildren, Anne Hershewe, Springfield; Mary Hershewe, St. Louis; Edward, Gabriel, and Thomas Hershewe, Joplin; three sisters, Pat Ruiz and husband, Rene, San Diego, California; Sharon Drake and husband, Dean, Penrose, Colorado; and Gail Longworth and husband, Chris, Ozark; and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
