Shannon LeAnn McCance, of Hancock, was born September 13, 1972, at Rolla, the daughter of Dale Cecil and Patricia Ann (Gilmore) Copeland, and departed this life at 2:10 p.m., on Friday, February 7, 2020, in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia. She had attained the age of 47 years, 4 months, and 23 days.
Shannon was a 1990 graduate of the Dixon R-1 High School and thoroughly enjoyed riding horses, with her dream to be a "barrel racer". She loved animals of all kinds, especially dogs, and enjoyed being with her family and friends.
During her working life, Shannon had been employed by the United States Postal Service, as a Contract Carrier, out of the Waynesville Post Office.
Those left to mourn the passing of Shannon include: Her husband, Sonny McCance, of Columbia; two daughters, Sonny Isabel McCance and Hallie LeAnn Copeland, both of Hancock; her mother, Patty Copeland, of Hancock; her father, Dale Copeland, of Dixon; aunts; uncles; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheyenne Autumn Copeland, on January 29, 2007; maternal grandfather, Theodore Monroe "Ted" Gillmore on March 29, 2002; maternal grandmother, Shirley Jean (Quiring) Gillmore on March 26, 2012; paternal grandfather, Ernie Cecil Copeland on August 8, 1977; paternal grandmother, Millie Frances (Robertson) Copeland on November 25, 1998; and paternal step-mother, Mildred Berniece (Overshon) Copeland on June 9, 2016.
A family graveside funeral service for Shannon LeAnn McCance is being planned and will be held in the Kenner Cemetery, near Dixon, with Pastor Gary Day, Hancock Christian Church, Crocker, and Pastor Beverly Sharp, Kenner Church of God, Dixon, officiating with arrangements by Birmingham-Martin in Dixon.
Interment for Shannon LeAnn McCance will be next to her beloved daughter, Cheyenne Autumn Copeland, and other members of her family. Honorary pallbearers for Shannon will be Isabel McCance, Hallie Copeland, and Bobby Copeland.
Memorial contributions in memory of Shannon LeAnn McCance are suggested per the wishes of her family with envelopes available at the funeral home or in care of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri 65459.
