Sharlene Messer Elliott, of Dixon, was born on March 28, 1942, at Burnwell, West Virginia, a daughter of Charles and Loucolian (Pitt) Messer and departed this life at 3:15 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2015 in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Elliott had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 19 days.
Mrs. Elliott was united in marriage on August 12, 1961, at Santa Cruz, California, to Frankie Ray Elliott and to this union, three daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 18, 2007; four brothers, Howard Messer, Cecil Messer, Harold Messer, and Kenneth Messer; and one sister, Mabel Rucker.
Mrs. Elliott was baptized early in life and was a member of the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon, as well as being a loving and devoted homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, camping out, activities with her family, and her dog, Poncho.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Elliott include: three daughters and sons-in-law: Sherry Lou and Garry Honse, Dixon; Tina Louise and Terry Alexander, Michigan City, Indiana; and Franky Lynn and David Cahill, Dixon; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and Shaynoah Sharp, Dixon; Alan Alexander and fiancée, Heather Baker, Dixon; Chris Cahill Springfield; Matthew and Katie Honse, Dixon; William Alexander, Murray, Kentucky; Michael Cahill, Dixon; and Makayla Honse, Dixon; four great-grandchildren, Gavin Sharp, Josalin Sharp, Kolton Alexander, and Brantley Alexander; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Elliott at 11:00 a.m., Friday morning, October 23, 2015, in the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon with Bro. Tom Maples, Crossway Baptist Church, Springfield officiating.
Interment was in the Little Flock Cemetery near Vienna under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Elliott were Jeremy Sharp, Alan Alexander, Chris Cahill, Matthew Honse, William Alexander and Michael Cahill. Honorary pallbearers will be Makayla Honse, Gavin Sharp, Josalin Sharp, Kolton Alexander and Brantley Alexander.
