Obituary

Sharon Kay Holterman, age 67, of Freeburg, was born November 19, 1956, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Leo L. and Mary Catherine "Dude" (Kirsch) Rotter, and passed from this life Friday, September 6, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was married May 24, 1980, at Bonnots Mill, to Richard Lee Holterman, who preceded her in death on November 18, 2021.

Sharon was baptized early in life and was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. She will always be remembered as the life of the party, who enjoyed gambling, dominos, bingo, and especially spending time with her friends and family.

During her working life, Sharon was a packer for Scholastic, Jefferson City; an accountant for Fronter Insurance, Jefferson City; and the CFO of her and her late husband's logging company, Holterman Logging, Westphalia for 51 years. In addition, Sharon also farmed and raised cattle alongside her late husband, Richard, on their family farm.

Those left to mourn the passing of Sharon include: two sisters, Ruthie Bowen and husband, John, and Helen Libbert and husband, Larry, all of Bonnots Mill; sisters-in-law, Karen Rotter, Ashland, and Darlene Holterman, Morrison; nephews and nieces, and relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Leo on May 26, 2000; her mother, Mary on March 29, 2000; brother, James Leo "Jim" Rotter on March 24, 2023; sister and brothers-in-law, Catherine Ann (Rotter) Porting on January 18, 2000, Arthur "Archie Bunker" Porting on July 20, 2009, and Roger Holterman on February 23, 2021.

Visitation for Sharon Holterman will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 am, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with her Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. William D. Debo as the celebrant under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.  Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery.

Immediately following the Holterman Family extends an invitation to all in attendance to share a meal with them at the American Legion Hall, Freeburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of Sharon are suggested by her family to "Father Debo's Holiday Decorations Fund" for Holy Family Parish.
