Sheila Mae Wansing, of Springfield, Ohio, was born November 3, 1949, at Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Donald D. and Dortha L. (Harding ) Smith, and departed this life at 8:40 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2020, at her home following several years of failing health. She had attained the age of 70 years, 5 months, and 9 days.
Sheila was united in marriage on September 16, 1972, at Dayton, Ohio, to Alvin Daniel Wansing, and to this union, two children were born.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Springfield, Ohio. Sheila earned her license in Ohio as a Cosmetologist in 1970 and later worked as a sales associate at several department stores, eventually retiring from Lowe's. She was also the founder and operator of Champion City Consulting, LLC. She enjoyed reading, particularly mystery books, playing cards with her granddaughters, and traveling which included 35 of the states and trips to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Those left to mourn the passing of Sheila include: Her husband of 47 years, Alvin Wansing, of the home in Springfield, Ohio; two children, Daniel Wansing of Gresham, Oregon, and Lee Anne Shepherd and husband, Jeremy, Enon, Ohio; two grandchildren, Hailey and Alexandria; two brothers, Edward Smith and wife, Belinda, of Columbus, Ohio, and David Smith and wife, Yumi, of Beaver Creek, Ohio; several nieces; a nephew; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a graveside funeral service for Mrs. Sheila Mae Wansing will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 18, 2020, in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, Vienna, with the Rev. Matthew Flatley officiating, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Those wishing to attend the graveside service for Mrs. Sheila Mae Wansing are welcome to attend by staying in their vehicles or getting out and using the current CDC social guidelines recommended at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Sheila Mae Wansing are suggested by her family to Project Woman, Springfield, Ohio, in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
