Obituary

Stephen Jerome "Steve" Iven, of Westphalia, formerly of Freeburg, was born on April 7, 1964, at St. Louis, and departed this life at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 17, 2015, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Stephen had attained the age of 51 years, 1 month, and 10 days.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and a member of the United States Postal Service employees union. Steve was a 1984 graduate of the Missouri School for the Deaf. He especially enjoyed his independence as long as his health permitted being able to cook, painting miniature race cars for gifts to his family, watching Cardinal baseball, and doing activities with his nephews and nieces.

During his working life, Steve was employed by the United States Postal Service in Columbia from 1985 until he was forced to give up his position in 1995 due to his failing health.

Those left to mourn the passing of Steve include: Three brothers, George Iven and his wife, Linda; and Andy Iven and his wife, Michelle, all of Freeburg, and Randy Iven and his wife, Donnetta, of Vienna; four sisters, Sheila Kliethermes and her husband, Bill, of Westphalia; Wanda Reinkemeyer and her husband, Roger, of Freeburg; Becky Libbert of Jefferson City; and Victoria Evans and her husband, Richard, of Hope Mills, North Carolina; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents: John Henry Iven on July 1, 2013, and Dorothy Gertrude (Nilges) Iven on June 17, 2013.

Visitation for Steve will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 21, 2015, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Steve at 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 21, 2015, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Reid as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.

Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Holy Family Church or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, 406 South Main Street, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
