Steven Thomas Edwards, age 62, of Rolla, was born August 30, 1962, a son of Aaron and Mary Cecelia (Roberts) Edwards, and passed from this life on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Phelps Health, Rolla.

He was united in marriage April 23, 1988, in Vienna, to the former Miss Lynda Joyce Helton and to this union two children were born.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized later in life at the Christian Life Center Church, Rolla. Steven loved to spend his time with his family and especially his grandbabies!

On September 9, 1980, at Memphis, Tennessee, Steven entered active federal service in the United States Army and served until September 30, 2000, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Knox, Kentucky, at the rank of SFC.  A man of excellent character, Steven's Honorable Discharge is a testimony of selfless and faithful service to his country. Over his 20 years of service, Steven, was awarded several medals, badges, and awards including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal,  Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, M16 Rifle Expert Qualification Badge, Hand Grenade Expert Qualification Badge, M9MM Pistol Expert Qualification Badge, and Driver and Mechanic Badge.

Steven continued his working career after his honorable discharge working for Royal Oak Charcoal, Salem and AGC Glass, Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Those left to mourn the passing of Steven include: his loving wife of 44 years, Lynda of the home in Rolla; his son, Brent Edwards and wife, Maria of Rolla; his daughter, Kelsie Edwards of Rolla; two granddaughters, Evelyn Edwards, and Camille Edwards, and one on the way in July 2025; mother-in-law, Joyce Helton of Vienna; uncle, Cecil Roberts; aunt, Kay Courtney; and many other relatives and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Mary Edwards; his father-in-law, Warren Helton, and one nephew; Timothy Rowden.

Visitation for Steven will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 406 S. Main Street, Vienna, with Pastor Chris Slocum officiating, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Interment with full military honors for Mr. Steven Edwards will be held in the Vienna Public Cemetery, Vienna. Pallbearers for Steven will be Brent Edwards, Kelsie Edwards, Curt Rowden, Dylan Rowden, Jon Zoerhof, and Robert Welthyn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryan Rowden, Evelyn Edwards, and Camille Edwards.
