Obituary

Susan Jane Hayes, of Vienna, was born on May 17, 1942, in Maries County, a daughter of William Menzo and Anita Dale (Lawson) Hinson, and departed this life at 6:50 P.M., on Saturday evening, July 2, 2016, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. She had attained the age of 74 years, 1 month, and 16 days.

Jane was united in marriage on September 16, 1961, at Newburg, to Larry Dale Hayes, and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter, Victoria Susan Lucille Hayes; her parents; and two siblings, June Weathers, and William Hinson.

Jane accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior, and at the time of her passing, she was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church and was active in the church organizations. She was an active member and a board member of the Vienna Senior Citizens Center, a member of the Vienna-Bassett Eagles Club F.O.E. 4340 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Holy Hatters Ladies at the Vienna United Methodist Church. During her working life, Jane was employed at the Missouri Department of Social Services as a family case worker in Maries County where she worked for thirty-two years prior to her retirement in about 1995. She enjoyed participating in bowling league, playing cards, bingo, taking trips to the boat, and was an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Most of all, Jane loved spending her time at activities that involved her children and grandchildren.

Those left to mourn the passing of Jane include: Her children, Clifford Hayes, Mark and Kari Hayes, Keith and Angie Hayes, and Julie Hayes; her five grandchildren, Danielle Hayes, Parker Hayes, Carson Hayes, Kamryn Hayes, and Carter Hayes; one sister, Virginia Bell; brother-in-law, Don and Alice Hayes, Portsmouth, New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Rev. Karen and Bill Alden, Glasgow, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
