Susan Kay Lekey, age 81, of rural Dixon, was born December 21, 1941, in the City of St. Louis, the daughter of Patrick Aloysius and Mary Helen (Renfrow) Fitzpatrick, and passed from this life Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her residence.

She was united in marriage March 29, 1958, at East St. Louis, Illinois, to Billy Eugene Lekey, and to this union, three sons were born.

Susan was baptized early in life and was a member of First Baptist Church, Vienna. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing, O'Fallon, Missouri, with her bachelor's degree in nursing. Susan worked as a registered nurse her entire working career until her retirement from General Leonard Wood Community Hospital. She enjoyed technology, playing online games, watching golf, reading, volunteering at church, and traveling with her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Susan include:  Her husband of 65 years, Bill Lekey, of their home in rural Dixon; her sons, Dr. Rod Lekey (Kimberly) of Gravois Mills, Keith Lekey of Vienna, and Scott Lekey (Amy) of Dixon; six grandchildren, Rodrick Lekey (Lauren), Dr. Amber Lekey, Chloe Lekey, Katherine Starmer, Isaac Lekey, and Tyler Lekey; one great-grandson, Bentley Lekey; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick, on November 21, 1967; her mother, Mary, on March 20, 2011; grandson, Ryan Lekey, on June 6, 2013; and brother, Doug Scott, on March 10, 2019.

A memorial funeral service will be held at a later time to honor Mrs. Susan Kay Lekey and will be announced by Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Susan Kay Lekey are Dick Carroll, John Hughes, Mike Scott, Mark Meyers, Chip Meyers, and Levi Thomas.
