Sylvester
Buschmann
Aug 5, 1929 — May 5, 2020
Sylvester Buschmann, of Vienna, was born on August 15,1929, at St. Louis, the son of Anthony Frank and Christine Marie (Falter) Buschmann, and departed this life at 1:36 p.m., on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, in the Maries Manor Care Center, Vienna. Vessie had attained the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 21 days.
He was a devoted member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Vienna, The Holy Name Society of the Church, and a faithful bell ringer for the Church. Vessie was also a past member and president of the National Farmers Association. During his working life, he had been a self-employed farmer on his Maries Valley View Farm next to the Big Maries west of Vienna. Vessie was a person who truly enjoyed socializing and being with family and friends.
Sylvester is survived by a host of relatives, cousins, and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our town and county lost a citizen who through the years has given meaning as to why people enjoy living in the Vienna community.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony, on July 31, 1960; and his mother, Christine, on April 6, 1973.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and size of the church, a private family visitation for Mr. Sylvester "Vessie" Buschmann will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 105 North Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with his Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m., in the Church, with the Rev. Matthew Flatley as the Celebrant, by Birmingham-Martin in Vienna.
About sixty relatives will be able to attend due to the size of the church and following the social distancing guidelines in place at this time. We are asking attendees to stay six feet apart, avoid close contact, wear personal masks, or use other personal protective items if wanted.
Interment will be next to his beloved parents in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, Vienna, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Pallbearers for Vessie will be Mark Buschmann, Chuck Sandbothe, Adam Helton, Mark Ewers, Dale Wansing, and Donnie Wieberg, and his honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Buschmann, Art Sandbothe, Tom Eads, Richard Buschjost, Bill Wieberg, Dan Hertzing, Clayton Haslag, and Steve Hayer.
When the COVID-19 guidelines for social gatherings have been lifted, a Celebration of Life Service and Dinner is being planned to honor the life of Mr. Sylvester "Vessie" Buschmann for all his relatives and friends wanting to attend and will be announced by Birmingham-Martin in Vienna.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Sylvester Buschmann are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Visitation Church or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
