Terry Dwight Landers, of Devil's Elbow, formerly of Dixon, was born on October 31, 1941, and departed this life at 6:40 a.m., on Monday, November 6, 2017, at his residence. Terry had just turned 76. He was the son of Paul LaPearl ("Pedad") Landers and Ethyl (Rench) Landers Beydler.
Terry was united in marriage on January 13, 1962, at Devil's Elbow, to the former Miss Wilda Kay Irvin. Terry and Wilda have two daughters and four grandchildren.
On September 6, 1961, Terry entered into active federal service in the Air Force of the United States and served until September 3, 1965, when he was honorably discharged at Dow Air Force Base, Bangor, Maine, at the rank of Airman First Class (E-4). A man of excellent character, Terry's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.
For most of his working life, he had been employed in Civil Service at Fort Leonard Wood in refrigeration and air conditioning. Following his retirement from Fort Leonard Wood, he and Wilda owned a closet shelving installation business. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, making handmade lures, wooden duck carving, and collecting Blue Willow China.
Those left to mourn the passing of Terry include: His wife, Wilda, of Devil's Elbow; his daughters, Janet Cross and husband, Doug, of Greenfield, Indiana, and Donna Englert and husband, Paul, of O'Fallon; his grandchildren, Meg Lancaster and husband, Tom, of Orlando, Florida, Brian Englert of St. Charles, and Brett Englert and Scott Englert both of O'Fallon; step-siblings, Paul Beydler and wife, Helen, of Dixon, Bill Beydler and wife, Georgia, of Springfield, Virginia (Beydler) and Donovan Myer of Greenfield, Indiana, Lillian (Beydler) Thompson of Rolla, and Josephine (Beydler) Roberson of the state of Wyoming; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pedad, on February 1, 1978; his mother, Ethyl, on November 18, 2006; and his step-father, Joseph Edward Beydler, on May 31, 1995.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
The funeral service will be casual and wearing camo is requested.
