Thomas Raymond Henry Kloeppel, of rural Dixon, near Brinktown, was born on April 5, 1945, in Maries County, the son of Raymond Ferdinand and Dorothy Gertrude (Brandel) Kloeppel, and departed this life at 3:45 a.m., on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at his residence. Tom had been in failing health from cancer and had attained the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 4 days.
Tom was united in marriage on September 9, 1967, at Westphalia, to the former Miss Marilyn Theresa Berhorst, and to this union, five children were born. He was preceded in death by one son, infant John Kloeppel, on August 29, 1970; two daughters, infant Diane Kloeppel on January 3, 1972, and Karen Ann (Kloeppel) Wieberg on November 27, 2006; his father, Raymond, on October 14, 2006; his mother, Dorothy, on April 8, 2010; two sisters, infant Donna Marie Kloeppel on December 9, 1962, and Alice Mae (Kloeppel) Rowden on November 10, 2005; and his father-in-law, William Joseph Berhorst, on November 9, 1978.
Tom was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown, and past president of the Parish Council and Cemetery Association. He was also a Third Degree member of the Argyle Knights of Columbus Council No. 2047 and a member of the Msgr. Ralph G. Kutz Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus No. 2811. Tom was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve and a member of the Lischwe-Brandel American Legion Post No. 354, Brinktown. A 1963 graduate of the Maries R-1 High School in Vienna, he was also a member of the advisory committee for the University of Missouri Wurdock Farms, and a past board member of the Missouri Farmers Association in Vienna. Tom was employed for 32 years with the Missouri Division of Employment Security and a longtime farmer.
Those left to mourn the passing of Tom include: His beloved wife of 47 years, Marilyn Theresa Kloeppel, of the home; one daughter, Linda Logan and husband, Paul, of rural Dixon; one son, Mark Kloeppel and wife, Sandra (Luebbering) of rural Dixon, one son-in-law, Ruben Wieberg and wife, Carol, of Argyle; ten grandchildren: Diane, Gina, and Amanda Wieberg; Ashley, Ryan, Renee, and Raymond Logan; and Ethan, Katie, and Blake Kloeppel; three sisters, Marietta Brune and husband, Don, of Brinktown, Deborah Pratt and husband, Michael, of O'Fallon, and Patricia Riegel and husband, Stanley, of Linn; one brother-in-law, Ronald Rowden and wife, Elizabeth, of Vienna; his mother-in-law, Anna Rose Berhorst, Westphalia; and many other relatives and friends.
A vigil service was held for Mr. Kloeppel at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2014, with Rev. Matthew Flatley leading, followed by a rosary services lead by the Knights of Columbus in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown.
The Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Mr. Kloeppel at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown, with the Rev. Matthew Flatley celebrating.
Interment with full military honors was in the Guardian Angels Cemetery in Brinktown under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mr. Kloeppel were Paul Logan, Ruben Wieberg, Ashley Logan, Ryan Logan, Raymond Logan, Diane Wieberg, and Gina Wieberg.
