Obituary

Timothy Enoch Nathaniel Wheat, of Dixon, was born on September 2, 1951, at Savanna, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, the son of Timothy Allen and Ina Lorene (Burch) Wheat, and departed this life on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at the residence of his sister near Dixon.  He had attained the age of 68 years, 11 months, and 28 days.

While growing up in Savanna, Oklahoma, Tim had attended the Savanna Assembly of God Church and had made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.  He was a 1969 graduate of Bethel High School in Spanaway, Washington, where he excelled in the sport of wrestling during high school.  Tim was the first athlete to receive the Coach Pevia Memorial Wrestling Award.  The Coach Pevia Memorial Award was established, following his death, to honor athletes who were superior in the sport of wrestling.

On July 7, 1978, at AFEES Seattle, Washington, Tim entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until September 30, 1990, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Gordon, Georgia, at the rank of CW3.  During his military career, Tim was trained to be a Calibration Specialist and a Nike Hercules Missile Crewman, and was educated in courses pertaining to Leadership and Management and Tactical Electronics Equipment Maintenance.  He was assigned to numerous duty stations while in the military and awarded and entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), the Good Conduct Medal (3 rd Award), the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (3).  A man of excellent character, Tim's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country during his working life.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Wheat include:  Two sons, Eric Allen Wheat and wife, Rachel, of Terrytown, Louisiana, and Jason Brian Wheat and wife, Jennifer, of the state of Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Regan Wheat, Ethan Wheat, Logan Holland, Knox Wheat, Max Wheat, Rhys Wheat, and Miles Wheat; two sisters, Ina Rebecca Hammock of Dixon, and Amanda Coleen Goodwin, of Tacoma, Washington; nephews, Nathan Forrest, of Savanna, Oklahoma; and Gary Hammock and wife, Robin, of Dixon; nieces, Lucretia Doba and husband, Alfred, of Dixon; and Tara Cole and husband, Bill, of Tacoma, Washington; with great and great-great-nephews and nieces as well; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy, on September 22, 1964; his mother, Ina, on December 27, 1995; and one sister, Maverene Forrest, on April 20, 2016.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Timothy E. Wheat will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 12, 2020, in the Savanna Cemetery, Savanna, Oklahoma 74565, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon, Missouri.

Interment will follow next to his beloved parents in the Savanna Cemetery with full military honors.  Alfred Doba and Nathan Forrest will serve as Tim's honorary pallbearers.
