Obituary

Urban Anthony "Bill" Wieberg, age 86 years, of Argyle, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 11, 1937, at Argyle, a son of Fritz Joseph and Catherine Cecilia (Brunnert) Wieberg. Urban was united marriage on April 29, 1961, at Argyle, to the former Miss Frances Ann Falter, and to this union, six children were born.

On April 30, 1957, at St. Louis, Urban entered active federal service in the United States Army and served until April 29, 1960, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Hood, Texas, at the rank of Sergeant E5. After his basic training, Urban took his advanced individual training at the US Army Southeastern Signal School as a Lineman and Powerman, and at the time of his discharge, he had advanced to the position of Line Construction Foreman. He was awarded and entitled to wear the Good Conduct Medal and the Expert (Carbine) Badge as well as having received other honors during his service as well. A man of excellent character, Urban's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial selfless and dedicated service to his country.

He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2047, both in Argyle. During his working life, Urban had been employed by Quacker Window Products; was a County Commissioner for Maries County for 4 years; worked for the United States Department of Agriculture for 3 years, and taught Building Trades at Maries R-1 School. He was a great mechanic who was always willing to help in any way. Urban was a lifelong farmer, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working the land.

He was well remembered for playing the lead guitar in the "Country Boys Band" as well as playing music and spending time with his family. Urban will be remembered for his love and support of his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Wieberg include: His devoted wife of 62 years, Frances Wieberg, of the home near Argyle; his children: Ivan Anthony Wieberg and wife, Ann, of St. Elizabeth; Kathleen Marie Gladden and husband, Ed, of Meta; Leroy Henry Wieberg and wife, Lisa, of Argyle; Laura Ann Haslag and husband, Paul, of Green Ridge; Dale Fred Wieberg and wife, Peggy, of Argyle; and Yvonne Mary Weed of Loose Creek; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and two more expected; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fritz, on November 13, 1984; his mother, Catherine, on January 7, 1965; one granddaughter, Rachel Ann Juergens, on December 3, 2002; six brothers: Mathias Wieberg, at the age of 4 years on February 19, 1939; James Wieberg on March 30, 2000; Ildephonse Wieberg on July 1, 2002; Albert Joseph Wieberg on June 27, 2003; John Wieberg on January 11, 2006; Edmund Wieberg on July 19, 2018; four sisters: Ermina Dickens on July 14, 1988; Rita Payne on September 25, 2006; Veronica McCormick on August 17, 2015; and Helen Copeland on April 13, 2020.

Visitation for Mr. Wieberg will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, on Monday, May 15, 2023, with the funeral Mass following at 12:00 noon, all in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, One Church Lane, Argyle, Missouri 65001, with Rev. Basil Tigga and Rev. James Finder as concelebrants and Deacon Michael Brooks assisting.

Interment, with military honors, will be the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Argyle, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Urban A. Wieberg are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the church the day of service or in care of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
