Walter Wayne Helton, age 84, of Vienna, was born March 16, 1940, at Vienna, a son of Vernon Albert and Dorothy Mae (Green) Helton, and passed from this life Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was united in marriage on October 12, 1957, at Meta, to Alice Ann Schroeder, and to this union seven children were born.

Wayne was baptized later in life and at the time of his passing was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna. He was a music lover who enjoyed playing the fiddle for his friends and family. During his working life he worked in the heating and air conditioning industry and was also a sheet metal worker.

Those left to mourn the passing of Wayne include: his loving wife of 66 years, Alice, of the home near Vienna; his children, Dale Helton and wife, Margie, of Meta, Ron Helton and wife, Darlene, of Westphalia, Vernon Helton and wife, Amy, of Vienna, and Diane James and husband, Jay, of Vienna; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Sonny Helton and wife, Robin, of Vienna; two sisters, Leona Williams, of Branson, and Joyce Sallin and husband, Ron, of the state of Kentucky; one half-brother, Harold Helton, of Ironton; two sisters-in-law, Mary Joyce Helton, and Tracy Helton, both of Vienna;  nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by one son, Stanley W. Helton on May 30, 2005; two daughters, Rhonda Catherine Helton on November 1, 1959, and Susan Ann Helton on June 7, 2003; his father, Vernon on March 7, 1971; his mother Dorothy on December 20, 2006; two brothers, Warren F. Helton on August 28, 2020, and Roger Helton on August 9, 2021; two half-brothers, Arlen Helton, and Arthur Helton; three half-sisters, Lorene O'Haver, Louise Vemmer, and Lola Mae Deleshmit.

Visitation for Mr. Wayne Helton will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Friday, April 26, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with his Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 a.m., all the Visitation Catholic Church, 105 N. Main St., Vienna, MO 65582, with Rev. Basil Tigga and Deacon Michael Brooks officiating.

Interment for Mr. Wayne Helton will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery, Vienna. Pallbearers for Wayne will be Vernon Helton, Sonny Helton, Darin Council, Kenny Helton, Jay James, and Chris Helton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Veronica Helton, Patti Distler, Cheyenne Council, Chuck Sandbothe, and Amy Green.
