Wanda Armistead, of Dixon, was born August 27, 1943, in Arkansas, a daughter of Jamie and Delise (Long) Prince, and departed this life at 9:45 p.m., Monday evening, August 15, 2016, at her residence near Dixon. Wanda had attained the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 19 days.
She was united in marriage on September 4, 1980, at Waynesville, to Willard Kenneth "Pete" Armistead. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Jamie, and one sister, Wilma.
She was a member of the Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, Dixon, and the Dixon Saddle Club. Wanda had worked for Civil Service, Fort Leonard Wood, with the 1st Engineers Brigade and was a secretary for the S3 of the 577th Engineers Brigade until she retired in 2008 due to failing health. She enjoyed cooking especially for pot luck dinners at the church and saddle club, and being with family and friends.
Those left to mourn the passing of Wanda include: Her husband, Pete Armistead of the home near Dixon; two step-sons, Richard Armistead and wife, Kathleen, Columbia; and Pete Armistead, Success; one brother, Terry Prince, Auburn, Alabama; one sister, Mary Guetiaz, Anderson, Indiana; six grandchildren; Ashley, Carlyle, Illinois; Elyse, Columbia; Dustin, of the home near Dixon; Sarah and Sierra both of Dixon; and Jonathan, Columbia; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Jaden both of Carlyle, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends.
