Obituary

Wanda Lea Cox, of Dixon, was born on September 3, 1932, at Wildwood, a daughter of Floyd William and Stella Leona (Blackwell) Manes, and departed this life at 4:09 a.m., on Monday, May 27, 2019, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab. She had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 24 days.

At the age of 17 years, Wanda had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and had followed her Lord in baptism, in 1949, at Raymondville. During her working life, she had been employed as a Telephone Operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone, first at Houston and then at Rolla, and had worked in restaurant work as a cook in Rolla, prior to her retirement, as well as being a devoted housewife, homemaker, and a diligent person in providing for the needs of her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Wanda include: Her sons, James Floyd Cox and wife, Deana, of Dixon, and Michael Richard Cox and wife, Christa, of Rolla; her sister, Viola Jones and husband, Wilbur, of Dixon; four grandchildren, Dylan Cox and fiancée, Haley, of Rolla; Zachariah Cox, of Rolla; Robin Kempke and husband, Al, of the state of North Carolina; and Magan Kempke and friend, Tristan, of Rolla; four great-grandchildren, Ivorey, Abel, Logan, and Lieghton; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd, on June 17, 1965; her mother, Stella, on August 1, 2004; and one brother, Leroy William Manes in 1990.

Visitation for Mrs. Wanda L. Cox will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 30, 2019, with her funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with Pastor Helen Winters, Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, near Dixon, officiating.

Interment will be in the Kenner Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Wanda L. Cox are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the funeral home or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, Missouri  65459.
