Wanda June VanScoy, age 82, of Dixon, was born June 1, 1941, near Dixon, a daughter of John and Nettie Florence (Null) Doyle, and passed from this life Friday, July 14, 2023, in Phelps Health, Rolla.
She was united in marriage March 1, 1958, at Dixon, to Earl William VanScoy, and to this union, four children were born.
Wanda was a member of Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, near Dixon, where she played the piano and served on the church board for many years. Wanda was baptized on April 29, 2001, and again on August 13, 2006, in the Gasconade River.
In addition to being a devoted housewife and homemaker to her family, she had been employed at Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, for over thirty years, prior to her retirement. Wanda was a softball coach for many years, and she always enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers.
Those left to celebrate the life of Wanda include: Her four children, Brenda Ridgeway and husband, Jeff, of Dixon; Linda Wagoner and husband, Bob, of St. Peters; Duane VanScoy and wife, Donna, of Vienna; and Glenda Emmons and husband, Tony, of Dixon; her sister, Louella Jennings, of Granite City, Illinois; her brother-in-law, Donald VanScoy, of Owego, New York; her grandchildren, Kristie Ridgeway, Will Wagoner, Jason Wagoner, Stacie (Matt) Wieberg, Sarah (Josh) Stover, John (Sydney) Emmons, Dakota Emmons, Taylor VanScoy, Cole (Kyzee) Emmons, Claire VanScoy, and Bayrd VanScoy; her great-grandchildren, Norah Wagoner, Alden Wagoner, Kamryn Wagoner Stover, Maverick Stover, Carter Stover, Andrew VanScoy, and Brayden Wieberg; nephews, nieces, with great and great-greats as well; many other relatives; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by: Her husband of 65 years, Earl VanScoy, on March 5, 2022; her mother, Nettie Doyle, on June 14, 1976; her father John Doyle on March 26, 1980; her five brothers, Lloyd Doyle on February 2, 1915, Bobby Doyle on July 11, 1984, Wilson Dean Doyle on June 8, 2012, John Willard Doyle on March 24, 2018, and Junior Dale Doyle on January 1, 2019; and four sisters, Marjorie Jones on August 17, 1962, Blanche Fuller on April 11, 1994, Esther Schenk on July 1, 2004, and Eva Doyle on April 3, 2005.
Visitation for Mrs. Wanda VanScoy will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday July 19, 2023, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, MO 65459.
The funeral service for Mrs. Wanda VanScoy will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Helen Winters, Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Seaton Cemetery, near Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. VanScoy will be her grandsons, Will Wagoner, Jason Wagoner, Taylor VanScoy, John Emmons, Dakota Emmons, Cole Emmons, and Bayrd VanScoy, and honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Kristie Ridgeway, Stacie Wieberg, Sarah Stover, and Claire VanScoy.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Wanda VanScoy are suggested by her family to the Seaton Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, MO 65459.
