Warren Franklin Helton, of Vienna, was born January 25, 1937, near Vienna, in Maries County, a son of Vernon Albert and Dorothy Mae (Green) Helton, and departed this life at 10:56 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020, at his residence near Vienna. He had attained the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 3 days.
Warren was united in marriage on May 10, 1958, at Vienna, to the former Miss Mary Joyce Spratley, and to this union, six children were born.
He was baptized in the Catholic faith and a member of the Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Brinktown. Activities especially enjoyed by Warren included archery, hunting with bow and arrow, fishing, all events involving his family, and most of all, playing his fiddle and making music with others.
Always a hardworking man providing for his family, he was employed in logging for most of his working life retiring from cutting trees in 2002. During this time, Warren also did farming and raising livestock as long as his health permitted. He was a courier for the Maries County Bank, between their branch locations, until he retired from his employment there in 2019.
Those left to mourn the passing of Warren include: His wife of sixty-two years, Mary Joyce Helton, of the home near Vienna; his six children, Wilma Rowden and husband, Bryan, of Meta, Virgil Helton and wife, Darla, and Gene Helton and wife, Dianne, all of Vienna, Lynda Edwards and husband, Steve, of Rolla, Lorie Fussner and husband, Bill, of Ashland, and Laura Mitchell of Republic; his three brothers and two sisters, Wayne Helton and wife, Alice, of Vienna, Leona Williams Kirby of Forsyth, Joyce Sallin and husband, Ron, of Murray, Kentucky, and Roger Helton and wife, Tracy, and Sonny Helton and wife, Robin, all of Vienna; one half-brother, Harold Helton, of Ironton; his eighteen grandchildren, Curt Rowden (Brooke) of Russellville, Dylan Rowden (fiancée Haley) of Vienna, Melanie Rowden (fiancé Tony) of Argyle, Heather Dantzler (Stefen) of Ashland, Justin Helton (Katie) of Linn Creek, Tyler Helton (Lindsey) of Wardsville, Lindsay Otto (Derrick) of Brinktown, Amanda Creamer (Jeffery) of Dixon, Adam Helton (friend Jamie) of Jefferson City, Audrey Holtmeyer (Tyler) of St. Anthony, Kelsie Edwards and Brent Edwards (Maria), all of Rolla, Cade Crowell, Colton Crowell, and Will Fussner, all of Ashland, and Drew Mitchell, Tanner Mitchell, and Cam Mitchell, all of Republic; his sixteen great-grandchildren, Waylin Rowden, Barrett Rowden, Emily Dantzler, S. P. Dantzler, Adelaine Helton, Graham Helton, Abigail Otto, Isaac Otto, Levi Otto, Emersyn Creamer, Jude Creamer, Emmett Holtmeyer, Elyse Holtmeyer, Evelyn Edwards, Stetson Mitchell, and Colter Mitchell; nephews, nieces, with greats as well; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon, on March 7, 1971; his mother, Dorothy, on December 20, 2006; one grandson, Timothy Lee Rowden, on January 6, 1989; two half-brothers and three half-sisters, Arlen Helton, Louise Vemmer, Arthur Helton, Lola Mae Deleshmit, and Lorene O'Haver.
Visitation for Mr. Warren Franklin Helton will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 31, 2020, and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
Funeral services for Mr. Warren Franklin Helton will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with his son-in-law, Bill Fussner, officiating.
Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Grandsons serving as pallbearers for Mr. Helton are Curt Rowden, Justin Helton, Adam Helton, Brent Edwards, Cade Crowell, and Drew Mitchell. Other grandchildren serving as his honorary pallbearers are Dylan Rowden, Melanie Rowden, Heather Dantzler, Tyler Helton, Lindsay Otto, Amanda Creamer, Audrey Holtmeyer, Kelsie Edwards, Colton Crowell, Tanner Mitchell, and Cam Mitchell.
The Helton Family extends an invitation to all in attendance to share a meal with them in Baptist Hall located on the lower level of First Baptist Church, 1004 US Highway 63, Vienna, Missouri 65582 following the committal ceremony in Vienna Public Cemetery.
