Obituary

Wayne Russell Robertson, age 77, of Vienna, was born June 17, 1946, at Vienna in Maries County, the son of Willard Collins and Nola Louise (Blackwell) Robertson, and past from this life Thursday, September 21, 2023, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.

On December 7, 1965, at St. Louis, Wayne entered active federal service in the United States Army and served until December 6, 1967, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Hood, Texas, at the rank of Specialist Fifth Class.  During his military career, he was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion 66th Armor, 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas, 4th United States Army, as a General Vehicle Repairman Specialist.  Wayne was awarded and entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal, the Driver and Mechanic Badge with Wheel Bar, and the Expert Rifle Badge.  A man of excellent character, his "Honorable Discharge" is a testimony of selfless and dedicated service to his country.

He was united in marriage November 24, 2007, in Vienna, to the former Miss Christine Ann Parker.

Wayne had accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior and had followed his Lord in baptism.  At the time of his passing, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Vienna, and in earlier years, Wayne and his family had attended Hughes Chapel Methodist Church near their home in Maries County.

During his working life, Wayne had been employed as a Machinist for Brown Shoe Company in Dixon and Langenberg Hat Company in Vienna.  He had also been employed by Maries R-1 Schools in custodial and maintenance work prior to his full retirement.  Wayne was also a member of Lischwe-Brandel American Legion Post 354 in Brinktown, and during his spare time, he especially enjoyed playing a game of Golf.

Those left to mourn the passing of Wayne include:  His wife, Christine, of their home in Vienna; his son, Rusty Robertson, and wife, Erin, of Vienna; his grandsons, Rustin Robertson and Howard Robertson; maternal uncle, Russell Blackwell, and wife, Lucille, of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death his father, Willard, on March 15, 1981; his mother, Nola, on June 17, 2013; maternal uncle and aunt, Clarence Blackwell on August 5, 1988, and Myrtle Blackwell on December 4, 2011; and maternal aunt, Geraldine Doyel on April 24, 2021.

Visitation for Mr. Wayne Robertson will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 25, 2023, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in the First Baptist Church, 1004 Highway 63, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chris Slocum officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be in Kenner Cemetery, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Wayne Robertson will be Steve Snodgrass, Mick Byrd, Joe Edwards, Bennie Waldron, Warren Ripley, and Dwight Slone. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Copeland and Dale Copeland.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Wayne Robertson are suggested by his family to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, with envelopes available at the funeral home or the church on the day of his service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O.
