William August "Bill" Carson, of Waynesville, formerly of Dixon, was born on May 1, 1942, at Denver, Colorado, a son of Lester and Edna Lee (Schubert) Carson, and departed this life at 3:00 p.m., on Monday, February 25, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. He had attained the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 24 days.

Bill was united in marriage on July 28, 1961, at Ottawa, Oklahoma, to the former Kathlyn Carol Strutton, and to this union, five children were born.

He was baptized into the Church of Christ in Waynesville on August 26, 1969, and was a 1960 graduate of the Dixon R-1 High School.  During his working life, Bill had operated Interstate Texaco for many years, had driven a Cab at Fort Leonard Wood, and had owned and operated Carson Furniture in Crocker and Dixon as well as dealing in car sales for over twenty-five years along with his other business endeavors.  He later managed Carson's Furniture in Mattoon, Illinois, where he retired.  He had a love for historic cars and antiques of all kinds.

Those left to mourn the passing of Bill include:  His children, James Carson of Ozark, Debbie Lynch (Mike) of Milford, Delaware, Debbra Renee Cutts (Chris) of Tabernacle, New Jersey, David Lester Carson of Dixon, Darren William Carson of Dixon, and Daniel Christopher Carson of Crocker; one brother, Ronald D. Carson of Union; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Linda Veasman Carson of Dixon, Carol Carson of Dixon, Barbara Carson of Dixon, Millicent Carson of Anniston, Alabama, Rene Rose Pardue (Lonnie) of Leesville, Louisiana; and wife of thirty-three years and mother to his children, Kathlyn Carol Poteet of Iberia; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Taylor William Carson on June 8, 2017; his father, Lester, on December 4, 1979; his mother, Edna, on May 13, 1985; and four brothers, Robert Lee "Bob" Carson on January 25, 2003, James Allen "Jim" Carson on September 27, 2018, Paul Richard Carson on July 5, 1995, and Kenneth Neil "Kenny" Carson on February 4, 2003.

Visitation for Mr. William August "Bill" Carson will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 9, 2019, in the Church of Christ, 12000 Highway 28, Dixon, Missouri  65459, with his funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. in the Church with Bro. Gerry Anderson and Sam Staggs officiating.

Interment will be in the Alder Springs Cemetery, near Iberia, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Dixon. Honorary pallbearers for Bill will be David Carson, Darren Carson, Daniel Carson, Ronald Carson, Christopher Carson, Cody Carson, and Lonnie Pardue.
