William B. "Bill" Dresel, of Vienna, was born July 13, 1934, at Freeburg, in Osage County, the son of Louis and Ida (Schneider) Dresel, and departed this life at 7:56 p.m., on Friday, November 1, 2019, in the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital, Columbia. He had attained the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 18 days.
On January 12, 1958, Bill entered into active federal service in the Army of the United States and served until December 3, 1963, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, at the rank of Private (E-2P). He had received his Advanced Individual Training in Artillery, and was assigned to Battery B, Second Battalion, Artillery Training Command, at Fort Chaffee, prior to his discharge. A man of excellent character, Bill's "Honorable Discharge" is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.
Bill was united in marriage on October 14, 1961, at Rich Fountain, to the former Miss Dorothy Regina Luebbert, and to this union, four children were born.
He was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of the Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna. Truly a hard working couple, Bill and his wife, Dorothy, were the owners and operators of the White Oak Spring Farm, near Vienna, in Osage County, for all of his working life, specializing in raising livestock including hogs, cattle, and sheep.
Those left to mourn the passing of Bill include: His wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy Dresel, of the home near Vienna; his children, Donna Frantz, Lawrence Kansas, Carol Dresel, Vienna, David Dresel, Westphalia, and Janet Wilhelm, Jefferson City; one grandson, Ryan Guinn, Lawrence, Kansas; one sister, Stella Dresel, Westphalia; nephews, nieces, along with greats as well; other family and friends; and his beloved dog, "Doug".
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis, on August 28, 1975; his mother, Ida, on May 12, 1940; and one sister, Mildred Miller, in 2016.
Visitation for Mr. Bill Dresel will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, with a Rosary Service at 6:45 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Bill Dresel will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, in the Visitation Catholic Church,105 North Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with the Rev. Matthew Flatley as the Celebrant.
Interment, with full military honors, will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rich Fountain, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna.
Masses are preferred by the family of Mr. Bill Dresel with envelopes available at the Funeral Home or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582.
