Obituary

William Lawrence Hoffman, Sr., of Freeburg, was born June 27, 1947, a son of Albert Henry, Sr., and Bernadine Elizabeth (Bax) Hoffman, and departed this life Monday, April 19, 2021, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. He had attained the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 22 days.

He was united in marriage on June 29, 1980, at Jefferson City to the former Miss Mary Jane Coleman, and to this union three children were born.

During his working life, Billy was employed by Quaker Windows and Doors, Freeburg, for many years, and always said, "he helped open Quaker", when the company was founded in 1948 by Marge and Bud Knoll. He had been employed by Mr. and Mrs. Knoll, before Quaker, when their company manufactured Venetian Blinds. Billy had also worked in timber as a wood cutter, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and especially being with his family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Willie include: His wife, Mary Jane, of the home near Freeburg; three children, William, Jr., Mike, and Beverly; three grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Miranda; siblings, Alex "Fireball" (Norma) Hoffman, Meta; Joan (Gary) Linnenbringer, Auxvasse; and Joseph "Butchy" Hoffman (friend, Joanne); Albert, Jr. (Linda) Hoffman; and Theresa Pope (friend, Thomas Lackey, St. James), all of Freeburg; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert, Sr. (2-19-1992); his mother, Bernadine (8-4-1973); brother, Frank Hoffman (3-5-2009); and sister, Mary Ann Stradford.

Visitation for Mr. William L. Hoffman will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 406 South Main Street, Vienna, Missouri 65582, with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. William D. Debo, Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, officiating.

Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Hoffman will be Jamie Wiles, Bryan Verslues, Scott Bastion, Lawrence Hoffman, Christopher Hoffman, Darrell Huskey, Andy Mengwasser, and Norman Mengwasser. Memories of Billy will always be remembered in the hearts of his family, and all who knew him.
